Lyrics
Verse 1
The angel came to my room last night
He spoke my name three times
He said his name was Moroni
He said he had buried something for me
On a hill
Not far from my father's farm
He said to come at dawn
He said to come alone
Verse 2
So I walked up the hill that morning
With the dew still on the grass
And the world still half asleep
And I knelt where he had told me
And I moved a flat stone aside
And below it I found a box
Verse 3
And in the box
On a bed of stone
Was a stack of gold pages
Bound at one edge by three rings
Engraved with characters
I could not yet read
But I knew
What they were
The moment I saw them
Bridge
Somewhere in this record
A man named Moroni had written
A prayer for a hand
That had not been born yet
I am the hand
Verse 4
He prayed that the Lord would touch us
Across a thousand years
And the Lord did
He prayed that the Lord would find us
And the Lord did
He prayed that the Lord would keep us
And the Lord did
Verse 5
Fourteen hundred years ago
On this same hill
A man laid these plates down
And asked the Lord to find a hand
That could open them again
He just did
The angel who came to my room
Was the same man
Verse 6
I am seventeen years old
I do not yet know
What I am holding
I do not yet know
What it will cost
But I have read enough scripture
To know what to do
When someone hands you something heavy
Verse 7
And so I close the box
And I pick it up
And I carry it down the hill
And the prayer that was prayed
On a stone slab
In a cave
A thousand years ago
Has been answered
Outro
Touch them, Lord
Touch them, Lord
Touch them, Lord
I have been touched
